Death of Bill Gold

Its with sadness that we announce the death of our club member and friend - Bill Gold. Bill was an avid model railroaders and very active club member. He built a G Scale module which the club has used for years in a variety of settings. As you read his obituary below you can see that he was a multi-facetted  person. We will miss him.  our thoughts and prayers are with Sandy and his family.

William "Bill" H. Gold, 77, of Main Street, Nazareth, died peacefully, Monday evening, Nov 23, 2015, at Hospice House of the VNA of St. Luke's, Bethlehem. He was the husband of Sandra B. (Benner) Gold since Aug 19, 1967. Born in Bethlehem, he was the son of the late Howard E. and Esther S. (Halteman) Gold. Bill was employed as a teller for Lafayette-Ambassador Bank, Nazareth, for over 25 years. A 1956 graduate of the Nazareth High School, Bill served in the US Army Stateside, Vietnam Era.

He was a member of the Nazareth Moravian Church. An avid sports enthusiast, Bill volunteered as statistician for many Nazareth Sports, football 50 years, basketball 40 years, compiling and reporting stats to the Easton Express Times that same evening after each game. He was coach, and headed the youth baseball program in Nazareth for 40 years, in which he was honored by the Borough of Nazareth having the S. Green Street Field named after him. In 2014, Bill was given the Mayor's Award for a Citizen of Service. Bill was also honored by the Nazareth Football Team. He was an avid Green Bay Packers Fan, and Cincinnati Reds Fan. Bill was a volunteer for the Borough Recreation Committee, and was instrumental in the Nazareth Day Program.

An avid model train enthusiast, Bill was a member of the Lehigh Valley Garden Railroaders, and the Nazareth Area Society of Model Engineers, Stockertown.

Survivors: wife. brother in law, Raymond Benner of Ocala, FL. sister in law, Jean Ullman of Bethlehem Twp. cousins, David S. Halteman and Family of Bethlehem, Edward W. Halteman, Jr. and Family of Middlesex, NJ. many friends.

Services: 11:00AM Saturday, Bartholomew-Schisler Funeral Home, 211 E. Center Street, Nazareth, PA 18064. Call, 7-8:30PM Friday and 10-11:00AM Saturday all in funeral home. Interment W/ Military Honors, Hope Cemetery, Route 191, Hecktown.
